Carol Lynne Tacker's Obituary
TACKER, CAROL LYNNE born in Dallas, Texas on January 5, 1949 and passed on to the next life on February 26, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends. In the too brief years she had, Carol lived an extraordinary life. She balanced a successful legal career with an artist’s heart. She was full of boundless intelligence, generosity, kindness, wit and laughter. She graduated from SMU Law School and began a 26 year career at AT&T Inc. where she achieved great professional success. She retired in 2010 as Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer. She loved working with the great people there and counted many as cherished friends. Carol was a unique and irreplaceable person. She was a constant traveler always looking for the next adventure. She was a talented writer full of stories and imagination. She was a wise, witty, generous soul who loved her family and friends unconditionally and was the safe place we all went for comfort and support. She is survived by her son John Brandon Tacker, his wife Lisa; granddaughter Stesha Tacker and grandson, Charles DeCarlo; her mother Frances Starrett; two sisters, Sue S. Bauman and Nancy S. Vera and her husband Chris; Niece, Shannon Reust and nephews Todd R. Bauman and Tyler D. Starrett and cousins who shared a great childhood together. She is also survived by numerous friends who she loved as family.Carol was preceded in death by her father, Ralph W. Starrett, loving grandparents, aunts and uncles. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating Carol’s life on Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 A.M. at Munger Place United Methodist Church located at 5200 Bryan Street Dallas, TX 75206. Carol had great love and compassion for all animals and she leaves behind her little companions Bella, Beth and Abby in the care of her family. In place of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made in Carol’s name to the SPCA of Texas at 2400 Lone Star Dr. Dallas, TX 75212 or Operation Kindness at 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006 or the animal charity of your choice.
