Carole Ann Kramer Taggart's Obituary
Carole Ann Kramer Taggart was born in Dallas Texas on Feb 10, 1935, the only child, of Naomi James Kramer and Mark Eustace Kramer. She grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated Sunset High School in 1952.
Her piano skills earned her a scholarship to Interlochen, a recording of the Haydn D major piano concerto, and then a music scholarship to SMU, where she joined the Alpha Xi Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta. But she transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she earned a journalism degree, and became betrothed to First Lieutenant George W Taggart, an army officer at nearby Fort Sill. They wed in July 1956.
Carole Ann was an accredited horticulturalist, an active member of the Dallas and American Rose Society, the Day Lily Society, Shades of Green Garden Club, the Daffodil Society, and others. She was a frequent speaker at garden clubs, the recipient of multiple awards for photography, flower arrangements, champion rose and day lilies. She could name at sight any American rose and her knowledge was encyclopedic.
For decades, she was a member of University Park Methodist Church, and sang in the choir. Later she became a member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian church. She was a Daughter of The American Revolution, and a proud member of the NRA. She was an accomplished horsewoman, and growing up with horses helped developed her love of all animals, especially cats. She was also involved in protecting the environment, and was a proud supporter of the Heard Museum. She loved little more than working in her garden while her cats played around her.
Carole Ann now reunites with George, who predeceased her in December 1995. She is survived by her 5 children: Gregory, Alan, Philip and spouse Raynar Jiang, Frederic and spouse Chuck Black, and Mark, as well as 5 grandchildren, several cats, and a host of friends, including her long time friend Carla Clark.
In her memory, memorials may be sent to the local SPCA, Feral Friends, or the animal rescue of your choice.
