Caroline Marie Nelson's Obituary
NELSON, CAROLINE MARIE. Passed away on December 13, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and various other health conditions. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wayne E. Nelson; daughter Jenni Ferreira, husband Joe, and children Julia and Joshua; daughter Karen Kroder and husband Stan; and daughter Amy Barker, husband Andrew, and children Tweed, Drew and Jack. Born in Dallas on August 1, 1939, she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1957. Following secretarial school, she worked in human resources at Collins Radio in Richardson, where she met her future husband in 1959. They married on May 20, 1960, in Dallas. She was a faithful and active member of First Presbyterian Church in Richardson, Texas, for 37 years, where she taught Sunday school, participated in Bible studies, volunteered in many capacities, and was a loyal friend to many. She also led Girl Scout troops for her three daughters and supported their various school activities. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed baking and sewing for her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in celebration of her life on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Richardson, 319 LaSalle Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Caroline’s name to the Network of Community Ministries, 741 South Sherman Street, Richardson, 75081, www.thenetwork.org. Caroline lived a life devoted to caring for and serving others. Her unselfish spirit and determination through years of health struggles will continue to inspire all who loved her.
