Caroline Mary "Nab" Simants' Obituary
Caroline Mary (Nab) Simants, 92, of Wylie passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Mustang Creek Estates in Sachse, TX. Caroline was born in Hillrose, CO, on September 30, 1933. She was the fourth of 15 children born to John Fred and Catherine Mary (Steinbach) Nab. Caroline attended school until the 8th grade when she was expected to stay home to help with her younger siblings. While working in a diner when she was 20, she met the son of the diner’s owner while he was home on leave from the Air Force. Caroline and Carl Eugene Simants eloped to Las Cruces, New Mexico on February 4, 1954, and moved to El Paso, TX, where Carl was stationed. They and their growing family moved from base to base living in Hawaii, Fort Worth, TX, Goose Bay, Canada, and Oscoda, MI. When Carl retired in 1968, they settled in Texas, living in McKinney, Garland, and finally Wylie. Caroline loved to crochet, do puzzle books, and decorate her house for every holiday. She was an outstanding cook; her fried chicken and oatmeal raisin cookies will be sorely missed. Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings, her husband, Carl, and oldest son, Garey. She is survived by sons Rick (Rona) Simants of Tega Cay, SC; Mark (Peggy) Simants of Wylie, TX; Scott (Janna) Simants of Fate, TX. Grandchildren are: Michael (Stephanie) Simants of Memphis, TN; Christofer (Kelly) Simants of Frisco, TX; Eric (Nataliya) Simants of Fort Mill, SC; Alan (Erin) Simants of Dallas, TX; Joshua (Ioka) Simants of Orange, VA; Ryan (Katie) Simants of Aldie, VA; Amanda Simants of Nevada, TX; Tim Simants of Hampton, VA; Carl James (Lauren) Simants of Wylie, TX; Dylan Simants of Ocean Springs, MS; Samantha (Mikey) Page of Hampton, VA; Adam Simants of Princeton, TX. Caroline has 26 great-grandchildren.
