Carolyn Janiece Jones' Obituary
JONES, CAROLYN JANIECE LOWREY Janiece Lowrey Jones, 70, of Mesquite TX passed away on Thursday, August 9th surrounded by her loving family after a valiant battle with Pulmonary Hypertension. Her positive mindset and cheerful disposition during a lengthy illness is a lesson for all of us. Janiece grew up in Dallas, attended Forest Avenue High School but resided in Mesquite for most of her life. On a dance floor in 1959, she met her future husband and love of her life, Richard. They spent the next 53 years attending Navy reunions, traveling the USA by RV, sailing on cruises and burning up the dance floor. Janiece would undoubtedly say that her greatest accomplishment was raising her two daughters, Christy and Dana, and watching them grow into beautiful, confident, amazing women. One of her greatest joys was hearing the words “gran-ma” from Billy and Caycee. She began her career in the offices of Sears & Roebuck and then became a medical claims examiner with UFCW where she worked for over 40 years. Janiece was an energetic, deeply loyal, and welcoming woman with a wicked sense of humor that kept everyone around her laughing and in good spirits. The many lifelong friendships that she developed are a reflection of her caring nature and how much fun she was to be around. “Neecy” was loved by everyone in her large family and made each member believe that they were special and her favorite. She loved telling people that she was “the mean sister” but everyone really knew her as Sweet Janiece. Janiece’s chocolate pies will be missed at every future family event and none of us will ever drive by Choctaw Casino without thinking of her enjoying herself at one of their slot machines. She is survived by husband R.A. “Richard” Jones, daughter Christy Tomlinson and son-in-law Randy Tomlinson, grandchildren Billy Tomlinson and Caycee Tomlinson, granddaughter and great granddaughter Randi and Tabitha Rader, “adopted” daughter and granddaughter Renee and Shelby Hobbs, and step-father Buck Chitty. She is preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by daughter, Dana Jones, and mother Ruby Chitty. Visitation will be Sunday, August 12th from 5-7 pm and also on Monday, August 13th from 6-8 pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX. A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, August 14th at 12:30 pm at Restland Memorial Chapel with interment immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orphan Outreach, 2001 W Plano Pkwy, Suite 3700, Plano TX 75075 or online at www.orphanoutreach.org.
