After retiring, she became active in the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in the Radiology Department. She loved gardening and shared many lemon trees raised from seed with her friends and fellow gardeners. She loved dogs and always had one if not two her entire life, including Bella, her white cockapoo. Carolyn traveled all over the world and was always planning her next trip. To be buried at Restland in the family plot, alongside her brother Craig Byron Johnson, Jr. Her father was Dr. Craig Byron Johnson, USN and her mother was Beatrice Kehr Johnson, both originally from Missouri before their Navy travels.
