Carolyn Moore's Obituary
MOORE, CAROLYN JANE PADGITT died on February 4, 2007 in Dallas at the age of 93. She was born on July 11, 1913 in Dallas, the daughter of James Durrell Padgitt and Mai Blanche Flippen Padgitt who pre-deceased her. Carolyn was a third generation descendant of the Dallas pioneer family of Jesse David Padgitt, co-founder of Padgitt Brothers Leather Goods. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from the Hockaday School. She attended Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Carolyn was married to William Reece “Billy” Moore, founder of Munger & Moore Insurance Agency, on February 1, 1937 at the St Matthews Cathedral in Dallas. Carolyn and Billy enjoyed thirty seven years of marriage until his death on February 19, 1974 at the age of 65. Carolyn, or “Mimi” as she was called by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a woman of ever- deepening faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a member of the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, the Junior League of Dallas, the Junior League Garden Club, the Dallas Woman’s Club, the Dallas Garden Club, and was active in numerous organizations relating to her husband. The family would like to thank Mabel Leblanc, Celestine Matthews and Mary Owens for their dedication and wonderful care of Mimi’ in her later years while suffering from Parkinson’s disease. She is deeply loved and survived by her daughter Carol Moore Diehl and husband Slayden, grandchildren Bowen and Lale Diehl, Billy and Katherine Diehl, Carolyn and John Heinrich, and great-grandchildren Padgitt Barringer Diehl, Henry Reece Diehl, Christina Ann Diehl, Brantley Carolyn Diehl, Samuel Slayden Heinrich and William Weston Heinrich. Carolyn is also survived by her sister Doris Padgitt Crockett, and several nieces and nephews. Her sister Blanche Padgitt Smith and brother James Durrell Padgitt, Jr. preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday February 7, 2007 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, in thanksgiving for her life, the family would appreciate donations to the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas Texas 75230, or to the Park Cities Presbyterian Church, 4124 Oak Lawn, Dallas Texas 75219 or to the charity of your choice.
