Carolyn A. Myers' Obituary
Died peacefully at home March 29 surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born in Cotulla, Tennessee June 19, 1921 to Lillian and John Agee. She grew up in the beautiful Cumberland Mountains of East Tennessee. She was a gifted athlete at Lafollette High School, winning a basketball scholarship to Lincoln Memorial University. She later transferred to the University of Tennessee where she met the love of her life, James (Jim) Arthur Myers, whom she married in 1945. Jim and Carolyn embarked on an adventurous life when Jim began the first of his many assignments as a college football coach at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. During the next forty years, Jim would coach at Vanderbilt, UCLA, Iowa State, Texas A&M, and finally the Dallas Cowboys. During those year, Carolyn was a consummate homemaker, gracious hostess, kind friend, and, above all, a loving and devoted wife and mother. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Maria Falkner, her brothers, Bob, Joe, and Jack Agee. She is survived by her beloved husband Jim, her daughters, Susan Jones (Harry), Kathy Finch (David), Carol Kellum, ten grandchildren, Jim, Jake, and Jennifer Jones, Katie Lawlor, Kurt and Kristi Kellum, Carol Taylor, Jon Daly, Kelly and Charity Finch, twelve great-grandchildren, her brother Jim Agee, and her adored little friend, Sweetie Pie. Visitation from Monday, March 31, 2008 from 5 to 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas, 75243. A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11:30 at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas, 75220. The family wishes to thank Carolyn’s wonderful caregivers, Erma Gaston, Ann Lacy, Jerry Dunagan and Francine Small. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Lovers Lane Methodist Church, where Carolyn was a member for over forty years and to the Humane Society of Dallas County DKC shelter to commemorate Carolyn’s love for God’s creatures.
