Carolyn Sue Chowins Overton
January 6, 1935 – November 10, 2025
Carolyn Sue Overton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away surrounded by family and held in the loving hands of God. She was born on January 6, 1935, in Holdenville Oklahoma, to her devoted parents, Glenn and Ida Chowins. Raised in the close-knit community of Wetumka, Sue grew up grounded in faith, service, and the deep values that shaped her life.
A proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, Sue carried her love of learning into her early career as a schoolteacher, where she touched countless young lives with her warmth, patience, and steady encouragement. She later found success in real estate, bringing her characteristic kindness, integrity, and determination to each family she helped. For 25 years, she also served as “Beta House Mom,” opening her heart—and patience to generations of young men who found in her a steady guide and a second mother.
In 1959, Carolyn married the love of her life, Claudell Overton. Together they built a beautiful family rooted in faith, love, laughter, and the enduring strength of their partnership. Sue was the cherished mother of Glenn “Bo” Overton, Claudia Ann “DeeDee” Solomon, Cara Jo Overton Talafuse, and Susan Craton. Her children were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into raising them with compassion, wisdom, and grace.
Sue’s legacy continues through her adored grandchildren—Tyler, Trevor, Kelsey, Kensey, Hunter, and Claudia—and her treasured great-grandchildren: Hudson, Emma, Hadley, Reid, Holden, Hank, and Rowe. Each of them carries a piece of her generous spirit, her fierce love for family, and her unwavering belief in the goodness of others.
Known for her gentle humor, her kindness, and the way she made every person feel truly seen, Sue lived a life of purpose and quiet strength. Whether teaching, guiding young men or simply listening with an open heart, she made the world around her warmer and better.
Carolyn Sue Overton will be deeply missed, remembered always, and forever cherished by those who were lucky enough to know and love her.
