Carolyn Jane Romer's Obituary
Carolyn Jane Romer, 91, of Plano, Texas, was born August 15, 1932, in Toronto, Ohio, to L. Ray and Frances Morris. She passed away on June 6, 2024, in Tyler, Texas.
Carolyn is a graduate of Martins Ferry High School in Martins Ferry, Ohio. She also earned an Associate’s Degree from Ohio University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority.
Carolyn married Richard Romer on November 28, 1957, in Longview, Texas. Afterward, they lived in Dallas, Irving, Austin and Plano. She and Richard loved to travel and explored several fun and interesting places around the world. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Carolyn’s professional life included a tenure with IBM. She then was on staff at several school districts and retired from Plano Independent School District in 1993. Following her retirement, she began as a substitute in the Plano ISD Administrative Office in 1994 and for several years afterward.
Carolyn was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Plano.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by: her daughters Cheryl (Dave) Booe and Jennifer (Troy) Trpkosh; her son, Doug (Linda) Romer; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy (Ron) Clark; and two nephews.
Carolyn’s family will lay her to rest at Restland Memorial Park beside her beloved husband.
