Carolyn Virginia Stewart's Obituary
Carolyn Virginia Stewart was born January 13, 1937, in Corsicana, Texas, to parents Calvin Calhoun and Willy Bell Ware as an only child and raised by her mother. She moved to Dallas at a young age and she graduated from North Dallas High School in 1955. She studied respiratory therapy and accounting at Dallas Community College.
Carolyn married Lloyd Turner in 1955 shortly after graduating from high school. They are married fourteen years and they have one son Dr. Lance Drayton Turner who has been successful in his career in Portland, Oregon as a Child Psychiatrist .
In 1973, Carolyn married Charles (Chuck) Stewart who had two children Susan Stewart-Mills and David Stewart from his first wife Jeanne Ford who died in her thirties. Their combined family lived on Lorrie Drive in Richardson Texas.
Carolyn loved ice skating as a young child and enjoyed traveling, gardening and making stained glass art work as an adult. She worked in the accounting department at Southwest Airlines in its infancy in 1967. She met Chuck Stewart in Galveston, TX while on a vacation in Houston in the summer of 1971. She also worked at Pete’s Plug and Mobil Oil in the Pegasus Building in Downtown Dallas. She was proud to be a native Texan and a graduate of North Dallas High School. Carolyn and Chuck attended the First Baptist Church of Richardson and had many close friends from church and the Richardson community.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son David Stewart. She is survived by her son Dr. Lance Turner, her daughter Susan (Susie) Mills, her daughter-in-law Bonnie Stewart, grandchildren Jeremy Stewart, Ian Stewart, Delaney Stewart, Amanda Mills, Stephanie Mills, Jake Turner, Lindsey Turner, Lance’s wife Julie Turner, Susie’s husband Randy Mills, Jeremy’s wife Amanda Stewart, Ian’s wife Rachael Stewart and great grandchildren Elliot, Oliver, and Gavin Stewart.
Visitation will be held on December 3, 2022, 9 am at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Tx. with funeral services following visitation at 10am.
