Carolyn Stuart Munn Goodfried's Obituary
Carol Goodfried, 97, passed away January 20, 2017, from complications following a fall in her home. Born October 24,1919, to Donald R. Munn of Scotland and Ellenor Maxfield Munn of England in Two Creeks, Canada. Her family moved to upstate New York, where Carol was raised through high school. She attended nursing school in Syracuse, New York, earning her R.N. In nursing school, Carol met Max Paul Goodfried and they were married on August 24, 1942. Max and Carol were together for 67 years, until his death October 27, 2011. Upon Max’s release from the Army Air Corps after WWII, he and Carol moved to Dallas where they raised three children and practiced medicine. Carol was proud of her work with the SIDS program and particularly proud of her work with Dr. Jacob Robbins, a very active general practitioner in Dallas. Carol loved gardening, fresh air and sunshine; she enjoyed bowling, golf and especially playing bridge. Carol remained in the family home until her death, with the help and support of her loving daughters, Kay and Debbie, and her best friend, Souad Zerouali. She will be remembered for her love of animals, generosity and resounding strength. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, sister Amy Barrett, husband Max, niece Barbara Kaplan and many close friends. She leaves behind her children Karen (“Kay”) (husband Ben) Krage, Dr. Gary Goodfried of Tyler, and Debora Goodfried-Moore; grandchildren Bryan, Christopher and Katherine Goodfried, Jensen and Kristen Krage, and great-grandson Mayes Mitchell Goodfried, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and good friends. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3:30PM in the Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
