Carolyn Fay Thompson's Obituary
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2008 in Richardson, TX. She was born on October 28, 1932 in Arcadia, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston Louisiana. She was a sensitive, caring, and devoted school teacher for 34 years of which 22 yrs teaching 2nd grade at Northwood Hills Elementary in the Richardson Independent School District. Carolyn received the Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Private Enterprise by Baylor University; The Joint Council of Economic Educators awarded her the International Paper Co. Foundation Award. She is member of the United Methodist Church in Richardson and was active in United Methodist Women, a member of Richardson Women’s Club, participated in New Directions, Network Ministries, volunteered at nursing homes and visited homebound patients from FUMCR. She was a member of the Golf Group in RWC, member of Needlers and Crafts, belonged to the Tuesday Morning Party Bridge Group, a member of several Book Review Clubs, and enjoyed being a member of Texas Reelers Square Dance Club of which she served as President in 1991. She enjoyed attending Merry Mobile Methodist Events in their motor home. Carolyn and Bill enjoyed traveling with friends, playing golf and taking long RV trips. She was devoted to her family and was a wonderful influence in their lives. She was preceded in death by her father Lucian Hughen, mother Maggie May Hughen, her brother Paul Hughen, sisters Maggie Ruth Barron, Jo Sanford, and Lela Mae Bailey. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bill Thompson; her daughter, Becky Newsom and husband Kelly; her son, Scott Thompson and wife Berkely; grandchildren, Blake, Hunter, and Haley Newsom, Taylor, Tori, and Garrett Thompson; sister, Doris Culbertson and husband Dave; sister-in-law, Leo Hughen. Carolyn will be missed by all who knew her.
