Carolyn Ozeta Timberlake's Obituary
Carolyn Ozeta Timberlake was born August 24, 1955, to her parents Marion and Jacqueline Timberlake, Sr., in Longview, TX. Carolyn was the only girl in the family. She was born into a Christian home and raised along with her four brothers. Carolyn’s family moved to Dallas in the 1950’s, and she accepted Christ early in life and joined First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park where her parents were faithful members. Carolyn’s education began at Hamilton Park Elementary School. She was a remarkable student. She had a special gift playing woodwind instruments, and the piano. Her mother, Jacqueline, loved the piano and always wanted to play it as a child. She always encouraged Carolyn, and made her take private lessons. Beginning in middle school, Carolyn learned to play clarinet and auditioned for the band. She often competed in Solo and Ensemble Contest where she was recognized for her musical talent and earned several awards. Also, Carolyn’s ability to play the piano was noticed at her church. She was offered the position to serve as youth pianist for the Sunday School. Carolyn finished her basic education and playing in the Symphonic Band at Lake Highlands High School in 1973. She was awarded a music scholarship to Southern Methodist University. In 1977, she completed her degree and received a Bachelor of Arts in Music. After graduating college, Carolyn accepted a music teaching job in Alice, TX. She worked as a teacher until she returned to Dallas working as a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service. She worked a few years and made a career change. Carolyn trained and became a Retail Associate, which lasted until she retired, working at the Dallas Main Post Office until the spring of 2014. Carolyn always made a lasting impression and had a bright smile. She was always ready to listen and talk about the goodness of the Lord. Her journey through life led her on a path to follow Christ. She was well-known in the community and loved by her family and friends. Carolyn’s life changed us forever. Her memory will be a lasting one. Carolyn’s death follows both her parents and brother, Patrick.
