Carolyn Dorsey Walters' Obituary
Carolyn Dorsey Walters, age 71, passed away on November 7, 2024, in Plano, Texas. Born on January 20, 1953, in Houston, Texas, Carolyn was a beacon of joy and radiance throughout her life. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, Texas, in 1971 where she was a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, Future Teachers Club, Concert Choir, and Reb-Belles Drill Team. She later graduated from Texas Tech University in 1975, where she was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Carolyn worked in advertising before becoming a mom to her two children and shifting to a role in education where she could balance her job with motherhood. She made an impact on children through her roles in the field of education for over twenty-five years. After retiring from teaching, Carolyn continued embarking on a diverse career path that included roles in real estate, nutritional coaching, medical office assisting, and most recently pet sitting.
Carolyn was an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where she found great joy in singing with the choir weekly and participating in Bible study groups and the Gift of Christmas production. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with those around her. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality and love for community, including attending social events at her Frisco Lakes neighborhood, leading a neighborhood Bible study, watching her favorite sports teams (the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers), and both hosting and attending numerous dinner parties.
Carolyn leaves behind a loving family: her son, Cody Walters, age 38, of Kent, Washington; daughter, Laura Walters, age 35, of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Allison and Wesley Walters, ages 11 and 9, from Kent, Washington; sister, Katherine Dorsey, age 74, of Spring, Texas; as well as her beloved Havanese, Simon, and granddog, Tucker Finn, and numerous close friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gladys Dorsey.
A memorial service will be held at Prestonwood Baptist Church’s Faith Chapel on Tuesday, November 19 at 2pm, where she was a cherished early member.
Carolyn’s life was a testament to her faith, love, and the joy she brought to every room. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. While we grieve for Carolyn immensely on this side of heaven, her faith has now been made sight, and she is now singing in heaven’s choir.
“The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation.” Exodus 15:2
