My favorite memories of Carolyne and her family were the vacations we took to visit them in Colorado in the '80s. We were treated like royalty in their lovely mountain home! And we brought along 3 kids! Wonderful food, enjoyable company and special outings you only find in Colorado such as climbing to see a glacier. The weather was refreshing compared to summers in Texas. We enjoyed ourselves during our five star stays.
In 1984 our son Timothy was born. A few weeks after his birth I took a fall and broke my arm. I couldn't do anything regarding infant care! I was unable to pick up little Timmy, change diapers,or rock him to sleep. We started to cancel our trip to visit Aunt Carolyne and Uncle Ed; they insisted we come nevertheless. Guess who cared for my baby? Aunt Carolyne and Kim! They carried my little newborn everywhere and even diapered him, cooed and smiled at him. I don't remember if Uncle Ed took a turn caring for Timmy but I do recall Vic reminding him of all the babysitting he did for Deb, Eddie, and Kim back in the day!
I was inspired during the years that Carolyne cared for her immediate family. Wilburn "Papaw" Singleton suffered heart issues in his final years and Carolyne was there to support him. Then Carolyne was there for her mother, Loneta "Mom" Singleton, who suffered with dementia. Years later she helped with her sister's care; Juanalyne Singleton Williams struggled with Parkinson's. Carolyne also cared for Laney and Katherine, Ed's sister and mother. How commendable it is that she would step up to care for so many in their final days of life! May her example always live on in our hearts and minds!
"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." John 14:1-3
Take comfort with these words, family.
With much love, Kathy Williams, on behalf of Vic Williams as well
