Carrol Elaine Brittell's Obituary
Carrol Brittell, age 76, passed to her heavenly father on November 11, 2023. Carrol was born to Wilma Inez (Swindle) Vanderslice and Clayton Andrew Vanderslice on December 16, 1946, in McAllen, TX. Those who knew her, loved her and are broken-hearted to be without her on this earth. Carrol was always positive, affectionate, witty, determined, generous, tenacious, persistent, carried herself confidently, and quick-tempered but also quick to find the humor.
Throughout her childhood and into adulthood, Carrol developed close bonds with her steadfast friends and co-workers still by her side today. The major focus of Carrol's career was within the customer service industry, where she excelled in Leadership roles. Carrol was a representative of the Kappa Delta Sorority and was initiated as a Sister and life member in January of 1966. She was an English major and taught high school English earlier in her career after graduating from Pan American College in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts. Her passion for interior design led her to a career with Home Interiors, following the footsteps of her Aunt Vera. She went on to receive many awards over the years. Carrol was a natural homemaker and enjoyed decorating, remodeling, cooking, and sewing. She had a knack for finding the best bargains and was a competitive shopper. Carrol had a special caring, human touch in her sense of humor and loved deep conversation and laughter with close friends.
As Carrol made lists and notes in her very last days, she wrote in blue ink inside her notebook - "The World of Carrol - Kristen and Scott". She was a selfless mother with a kind and loving heart who did not judge her children but provided unconditional love. They will miss her most.
Carrol is survived by her sister, Ruby Judith (Vanderslice) Clark; son, Scott Rhodes, and wife Thera Rhodes; daughter, Kristen Oliver; bonus children, Scott Brittell and wife Anne, Mark Brittell and wife Dala, Jody Brittell and wife Vanessa, Michelle Tucker and husband Dave, Kimberly Bost and husband Randall; grandchildren, Zachary, Courtney, Madison, Neo, Tatum; and great-grandchild, Avery. She has now gone to join her husband, Stephen Brittell, in their heavenly home.
