Catarina Guzman Silva's Obituary
GUZMAN, CATARINA G. , a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a resident of Dallas for over 60 years, died on August 12, 2013. She was born on March 21, 1926 in Roma, Texas and moved to Dallas in 1954. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Genaro P. Silva; her granddaughter, Deborah F. Vasquez Garcia; and her son-in-law, Javier Arriaga. She is survived by her five children, Diana S. Garcia, Sylvia C. Chavoya, Norma N. Arriaga, Genaro Silva Jr., and David Silva, as well as their respective spouses, Santiago Garcia, Patricia Silva and Cristina Silva. Also her seven grandchildren, Diana Rae Vazquez, Deena Chavoya Ellis, Cristina Silva, Genaro Silva III, Dante David Silva, David Silva Jr., and Sophia Silva-Trevino; And her five great-grandchildren, Frank Alexander Fraga, Zachary R. Garcia, Isaiah Chavoya-Ellis, Levy Chavoya-Ellis and David Chavoya Barba. She was a member for many years of Agape Memorial Methodist Church. She was a part-owner and dedicated employee for over 40 years at Tachito’s Mexican Restaurant. She will be sorely and forever missed by all of her family, both her immediate relatives, and her many family members across this country and in Mexico, plus her many, many friends. Her loss is also especially felt by the many hundreds of customers whom she came to love at Tachito’s, daily, and always with a smile, for many years and for as long as her health allowed. Her customers came to the restaurant not only for the food but to visit with her as well. She became like part of their families. She was lovingly called “Mama” by most. She was a caring and giving woman who made a difference in many lives. She helped and lent a hand to all, friends and strangers alike. Her generous and giving soul made many happier for having met her. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, August 19, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Restland Memorial Chapel.
