Catherine Burnell Hejl's Obituary
Hejl, Catherine 90, passed away on November 23 in Allen. She was born on Christmas Day on her family’s farm near Capron, Oklahoma. After spending time at home to help care for her younger sister, she attended college and graduated from what was then know as Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State, with a degree in Home Economics. She worked as a dietitian in Chicago, and then at the VA hospital in Dallas. She met Andrew Hejl at a YWCA dance, and they married on June 1, 1950. She had many happy years as a stay at home mom to sons Danny and Randy, and daughter Nancy. After her children were grown, she and Andy enjoyed travel, church activities at Lakewood Methodist and later, spending time with grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Randy in 1981, husband Andrew in 1997, and infant grandsons David and Christopher Shepler. She is survived by son Danny and his wife Janet, daughter Nancy and her husband Chuck and grandchildren Lindsay Hejl, Chad Hejl, Denise Shepler and Jennifer Shepler. She loved her home, family and friends, and her sweet, quiet, loving spirit and strong faith were a blessing to all who knew her. Services will be at 12:30 on Friday, November 27 at Restland Wild-wood Chapel. Memorials may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church.
