Cecelia Ann Polzer
August 11, 1941 – May 27, 2025
Cecelia Ann Polzer, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother of three, and businesswoman passed away peacefully with family and friends at her side on May 27, 2025, at the age of 83. She remained charming and brave throughout a brief hospitalization and hospice care during which she was visited by many family members and friends.
Cecelia was born August 11, 1941, in Dallas Texas, to Bascom and Arline Sanford and grew up with three younger brothers in Oak Cliff.
After graduating with the Class of 1959 from Our Lady of Good Counsel in Oak Cliff, she attended Texas Woman’s University. While attending TWU, Cecelia met her future husband, Stephen F. Polzer III, at a Newman Club dance in Denton, Texas. They were married in 1961 in Dallas, gave birth to Tim in 1963, Christina (Tina) in 1964, and Stephen in 1966. Steve’s career as a public-school teacher, counselor, and principal resulted in moves to Brownfield, Texas and Alice, Texas before relocating to Lewisville, Texas.
Cecelia enjoyed a long career in the medical records and transcription industry. Along the way, she trained, managed, and nurtured many transcriptionists while building her own business. In 1999, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia as part of the sale of her business to Phillips, a national medical records provider.
A lifelong Catholic, Cecelia worked on the staff of St. Philip The Apostle Church in Lewisville, Texas where she also was a eucharistic minister. Through the years, she expanded her work in the church including serving as Lay Ministries Commissioner for the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth.
After relocating to Dallas and throughout retirement, Cecelia remained involved with her family, helping care for and nurture five grandchildren in Dallas and Houston. She was also active at the Garland Senior Activity Center where she helped the GSAC Readers Group collect books and organize the center’s library. She also started a monthly Birthday Club group, in which she enjoyed dining and socializing at area restaurants with her friends.
Cecelia is preceded in death by her son, Stephen Frank Polzer IV; ex-husband Stephen Frank Polzer III; her parents, and brothers Mike, Jack, and Jeff Sanford.
Survivors include son, Tim Polzer and wife Karen; daughter Tina Milanesi and husband, Jon; grandchildren Dante Milanesi, Sydney Milanesi, Jackson Polzer, Gabriel Polzer, and Leo Polzer, as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Visitation and Rosary will be held from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday evening, June 15th, 2025, in Restland Funeral Home's Hydrangea State Room.
Funeral Services for Cecelia will occur the following Monday morning, June 16th, from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home's Wildwood Chapel.
