Celesta "Bernice" Combs' Obituary
Celesta "Bernice" Combs, 88, was called home to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
She was born Celesta Bernice Scott on October 7, 1932 in Comanche, OK, to Oscar Nevil and Ollie Lee Scott. The youngest of four children, Celesta was affectionately nicknamed “Niecie”.
She attended High School in Quinlan, TX where she had many close girlfriends and played high school basketball. She met the love of her life at the young age of 16, and was married at age 17 in Greenville, TX, where she began her 61 year marriage to Mr. Johnny Murl Combs.
Together they raised 5 children in Dallas, TX.
She is survived by her 5 children, Mr. Gary Murl Combs and his wife, Marian Combs of Campbell, TX, Ms. Jean Ladell Combs of Lewisville, TX, Ms. Beverly Sue Combs of Lewisville, TX, Mr. Arvin Glen Combs and his wife, Sabrina Combs of Dallas, TX, and Mrs. Carol Denice Combs Wolf and her husband, Russell Wolf of Lewisville, TX.
Bernice was also blessed with 7 grandchildren, Leslee Elizabeth Wolf, James Dylan Combs Rebecca Linn Robinson, Morgan Elisabeth Patton, Scott Russell Wolf, Jacob Carter Combs, and Connor Eli Wolf; and one great-granddaughter, Eva Jane Combs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny M. Combs; her parents, Oscar Nevil Scott and Ollie Lee Scott; 2 brothers, Oscar Elvin Scott and James Cleo Scott; and her sister, Geneva Philbrick.
There will be a gathering and visitation time from 3-6 PM Monday, May 24, as well as beginning 11 AM Tuesday, May 25, both at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 12 PM Tuesday, May 25, at Restland Memorial Park.
