Chalmers Edward Bolding Jr.'s Obituary
Chalmers Edward Bolding, Jr. passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Dallas, TX at the age of 81. He was born on June 6, 1933 in Memphis, TN to Chalmers and Myrtle Bolding. Upon graduation from high school, Ed joined the United States Air Force where he served the country from 1951 to 1955. He was immediately assigned to service in Korea and was subsequently stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base near Bossier City, LA. It was in nearby Shreveport where he met Janie, the love of his life for the next 60 years. After completing his military service, Ed and Janie moved to Dallas, TX, where they raised their family. The experience Ed gained as an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force led to his first career with Braniff International Airways where he worked for 25 years. In 1981, Ed opened his own real estate management company where he worked until retirement. Ed loved his family deeply and had a strong faith in God. Family and friends that knew Ed will always remember his genuine concern for the common man and those who were less fortunate. With a love for Christ, and having been a member of Royal Haven Baptist Church for over 40 years, he became a deacon, was a member of the Choir and served on numerous church committees. Ed was instrumental in the recent sale and relocation of the church to its new home and was very proud of his contributions to the makeover of the new church home for the benefit of its members. Ed had a great love for music, having played the clarinet for four years in the Humes High School Band in Memphis, TN. He continued his musical interests by learning to play the guitar and through his involvement in the church choir. He had fond high school memories of living near Elvis Presley and gathering with friends in neighborhood garages to watch him play the guitar. In his youth, Ed played many sports with a primary focus on baseball. His sports interests led to him being a big fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Ed is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Gladys, Louise, Dean and Estelle. He is survived by his wife, Janie; daughter, Teri Bolding; son Mark Bolding and wife, Prudence; and their sons, Grant and Clark. Family will receive friends for visitation for Chalmers Bolding, Jr. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Royal Haven Baptist Church (3700 Valley View, Farmers Branch, TX 75244) on behalf of the Ed Bolding Family Assistance Benevolence Fund.
