Chantara Sok's Obituary
Chantara Sok, 57, a loving father, and an amazing husband, was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Phat Sok and Men Tith. He survived through the Khmer Genocide and was fortunate enough to move to the states in the 1980s with the help of sponsorship by Salun Sok. He was a brother to many of his siblings Salun Sok, Vannak Sok, Samach Sok, Phaly Sok, Seihak Sok, Seiha Sok, Seila Sok, and Visal Sok.
With limited English he went through high school in Odessa, Texas and then moved to Dallas to attend Richland college and earn his associate’s degree. He found his way into the field of Controls Engineering and worked at various System Integrator companies and became a successful Senior Controls Specialist.
Chantara Sok was a family man. He made sure there was food on the table and a roof over his family’s head. Every vacation he did, it was always family focused. He took his Wife Chantha and Sons; Randy, Richie, and Dilon to many places around the world.
Aside from his family, Chantara gained many friendships throughout his life. He touched hearts and influenced those around him. He was a friendly man and welcome everyone with open arms.
He loved to keep his mind busy in the world of Controls Engineering. With his vast knowledge & expertise in PLC/SCADA programming and engineering he made an impact on many of the customers he worked with. Even after hours he loved to learn more about PLC/SCADA programming of different kinds.
Besides his professional work, his hobbies included fishing and gardening. If he wasn’t doing that or working, he loved to eat his wife’s cooking.
Chantara Sok was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in July 2024. He fought a long hard battle against it.
Chantara is survived by his wife Chantha Seng, his sons Randy, Richie, Dilon and Daren Sok, his brothers Salun & Seila Sok, and sisters Samach & Visal Sok.
Chantara Sok will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
