Charlene R. Crissey's Obituary
Charlene R. Crissey, 97, surrendered her earthly burdens and went to meet her Lord and Savior early Monday morning August 8, 2022, in Dallas, TX. Charlene was the youngest of five daughters born to Charles and Kathryn Renegar, in the small community of Nebo, in Murray County, Oklahoma on September 24, 1924.
She grew up during the depression, working on the farm with her parents and sisters where she learned the value of hard work and the importance of family. These teachings and her strong Christian beliefs served her well throughout her entire life.
She met the love of her life, Howard Drake Crissey, in 1946 and they were married February 14, 1948, in Dallas, TX. Their union was blessed with four children, Dana Richard, Howard Drake, Jr., Martin Lynn and Elaine Kathryn Graff. Their wonderful life together was cut short when Howard died in February 1964. Suddenly, she found herself a widow with four young children to raise.
Relying on her strong sense of confidence and her faith she set out on a career in sales and in a short time she realized she was actually very good at it. She worked evenings but still found “quality” time to successfully raise her young family to become strong successful men and women, husbands and wives and mothers and fathers. Mom was our Rock. Our Hero. We will all miss her so much.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard and her 4 sisters, Vera Kirby, Thelma (Dutch) Pool, Ruby Beasley, and Ruth Arms.
Charlene is survived by her children: Dana (Cindy), Howard (Bridget), Lynn (Nancy), Elaine (Jim); 12 grandchildren: Brian (Amy), Jeff (Amber), Catherine (Jason), Ryan (Renee), Kim (Dave), Kate (Daniel), Rory (Doug), Scott (Stephanie), Robin (Ryan), Brooke (Zeke), Michelle (Michael) and Crissey (Wade); 43 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to Mrs. Irma Waller, her caretaker, friend, and confidant. Mom was a fiercely independent woman. Her time with Irma allowed her to live her life with humility and grace for as long as possible.
There will be a viewing and visitation on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the main building. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Wildwood Chapel. 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75243.
