Charles A. Haynes III's Obituary
Charles A. Haynes III known to friends and family as “Charlie,” went to be with the Lord, September 19, 2016. Charlie was born in Midland, Texas, on May 28th, 1954, to Charles A. Haynes, Jr. and Pauline Kettle Haynes. He graduated from Midland High School in 1972 and went on to Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Charlie graduated from SMU with a BBA in 1976. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Midland, Texas. Charlie was a true West Texas wildcatter like his father, and had a passion for the oil industry and sports. But, above all else, Charlie had a passion for life and love for his family. Charlie is preceded in death by his mother and father, and his son, Charles A. Haynes IV, “Chas.” He is survived by his son, Marcus Kettle Haynes and his wife Hartley Bettis Haynes, of Midland, Texas; his daughter, Ali Haynes Laster and her husband, Zach Laster, of Wimberly, Texas. He was “Big Charlie” to his much-loved granddaughters, Sutton McKenzie Laster and Vivian Claire Haynes. Charlie is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Kent Newsom of Dallas, Texas; nephew Douglas Newsom of Dallas, Texas; cousins Polly Richardson Simpkins and John Kettle Richardson of Dallas, Texas; and long-time partner and friend, Jan Lucas, of North Richland Hills, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday September 28th, at 12:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Cemetery, 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, Texas, 75243. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to The Baylor Healthcare Foundation, 3600 Gaston Avenue, Ste. 100, Dallas, Texas 75246.
