My grandmother always called him Charles Allen. He would come to her house in Carrollton because she didn't drive. Very kind and nice man. I think he got a kick out of my Grandmother's questions. The biggest policy she ever had was $1000.00, but she had several because of all the grandchildren and children she had. She was always changing them depending on the needs of the recipient. He didn't mind, it was always a good visit.
I worked for Charles Allen at his State Farm Insurance Agency in the early 1970's & remember him as a kind man with a sense of humor. My condolences to his family & friends.
Granddad said, being Weird is Good. As a young adult interested the visual arts, being called ?weird? in school was fairly normal. Once when that was really getting me down, Granddad sat me down and said, Stacy I want you to always remember something, he said, ?Being Weird is Good? and being called that is a good thing. That has stuck with me my whole life. Anytime I feel like I am different or weird, I remember "weird is good." Granddad was full of the small simple words of wisdom that perhaps he did not even know would have such a lasting impact.

I have had a special place in my heart for Charles for over 50 years. He was responsible for directing me to a career with State Farm Insurance. I will forever be grateful for that. He was also my Sunday School teacher back in the 50's! We are so sorry to hear of his passing & our thoughts & prayers will be with you, Georgia & the rest of the family. I remember playing pretend ?bunny rabbits? as a child with my siblings probably around age 4 to 6. Hopping around Grandmother and Granddads house on all fours as the rules of the game called for no walking only hopping. Grandmother would feed us lettuce and carrots under our make shift table ?cave den,? we would get scared every time we hopped into Granddads pool table/office room where he had that ?larger than life? scary wild boars head. Thank you Grandmother and Granddad for all of the wonderful childhood memories!
