Charles Willis Boone's Obituary
Charles Willis Boone, born on February 24, 1931, in Dallas, Texas to parents Charles Wright Boone and Lucile Mays Boone. After completing his education at Forest Avenue High School in 1949, he embarked on a journey of service. Answering the call of duty, Charles dedicated a portion of his life to the United States Navy during the challenging times of the Korean War. Upon his return, he pursued higher education at Arlington College, now recognized as the University of Texas at Arlington.
On May 7, 1955, he exchanged vows with the love of his life, Jerry Ann Overman, at Forest Avenue Baptist Church.
Charles found professional fulfillment as a pharmaceutical wholesale representative, contributing his efforts to companies such as Stanley Drug, Behrens Drug, and Cardinal Health. His dedicated work spanned several decades, culminating in his retirement in 1998.
Throughout his life, Charles held steadfast to his deep-rooted faith, placing Jesus at the forefront of his endeavors. In 1994, his commitment was honored with ordination as a deacon at Casa View Baptist Church. He and Jerry shared the joy of nurturing young minds, teaching the 2-year-old Sunday School Class with unwavering dedication. His gentle and warm presence was a testament to his inner tranquility, consistently adorned with a welcoming smile. In recent times, Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Garland.
Charles was raised to the degree of a Master Mason in 1960 at Keystone Lodge #1143, A.F.A.M.
Beyond his professional and spiritual pursuits, Charles found enjoyment in golf and travel, often with his loved ones. Family trips to Breckenridge, Colorado, held a special place in his heart.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister Lois Langley and brother John "Jack" Boone. He is survived by his loving wife of an incredible 68 years, Jerry Ann Boone. Left to honor his legacy are his son Derek Boone and wife Cindy of Mesquite, Texas, and his daughter Staci Riffe and husband Ron of Sunnyvale, Texas. The next generation held a special place in his heart, with grandchildren including Emily Boone of Mesquite, Brett Boone and wife Hannah of Forney, and Brenna Pennington and husband Austin of Keller. The circle of life continued with great- grandchildren Griffin and Annie, who were a source of immeasurable joy.
On August 23, 2023, Charles peacefully passed to his heavenly home.
