SHAW, CHARLES “BUDDY” born, Charleston SC Nov. 8, 1926, died Richardson, TX, April 11, 2013. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda Smith Shaw of Plano; and daughters, Meg Burgett and husband, Lowell of Wasilla, AK, Karen Holub and husband, Bill of Plano, TX, Jo Smith of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren, Walker Burgett, Amanda Holub, Jill Holub and Marshall Smith; niece, Linda Walters of Myrtle Beach SC, and nephews, AI Shaw and Mark Shaw of Florence, SC. Buddy grew up in Florence, SC where he graduated from Florence High School in 1944. Following graduation he served 2 years in the United States Navy. He graduated from NC State in 1951 with a BS in Electrical Engineering, and served 2 years in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Bossier City, LA, he met Wanda Smith. They were married in Shreveport, LA the day after he was discharged from the Air Force. Buddy was a loyal employee of Texas Power and Light for 33 years, He was the supervisor in charge of the start up of Stryker Creek SES in Cherokee Co., TX and of Trading House Creek SES in McLennan County, TX. In 1971, he was transferred to the home office, in Dallas and moved his family to Plano. He retired in 1988 as Assistant Chief Engineer. Buddy and Wanda were active members of’ St. Jude Catholic Church parish in Allen, TX. The Rosary will be prayed at Restland Memorial Chapel on Monday evening, April 15, 2013 at 5:30 PM followed by family visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM. The mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM followed by a reception in the parish hall and burial at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
