Charles Vernon (Charlie, Rusty) Duke Jr.'s Obituary
DUKE, JR., CHARLES VERNON Charles Vernon Duke, Jr., was born August 10, 1945, in Galveston, Texas and passed away February 16, 2013, in Dallas, surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was the eldest son of Charles Duke, Sr. and Emma Parker. He was raised in Texarkana, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Tulsa Edison in 1963 and attended OU and OSU. Following in his parent’s footsteps, he began his career at Dillard’s. His thirty years in the men’s clothing industry included Hyroop’s Big & Tall and Rochester Big & Tall Clothing. In the late 1990’s, Charlie joined Oreck Floor Care where he worked until his retirement in December 2012. He will be fondly remembered as a generous family man and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. His parents preceded Charlie in death. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 28 years, Shelley; daughters, Elisha Duke Holloway and Jennifer Duke Allen; brother Bill and wife Julie; grandson, Dylan Holloway; niece Claire Duke; special cousin Anita Mullins and family; ex-wife Linda Kay Duke and numerous cousins. A Memorial Service honoring his life will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 18, 2013 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
