Charles Benjamin Childress' Obituary
CHILDRESS, CHARLES BENJAMIN Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on November 14. He was born on July 25, 1924 in San Angelo, Texas to Benjamin H. and Eula Lee Childress. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Eula Mae Bishop; and brother, Paul. He served in the Army Signal Corps in Europe during World War II, afterwards graduating from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana and working as an electronics engineer. His projects as an engineer included the Apollo capsule, the lunar lander, and the large screen display at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch, and taught the Adult Bible Class there for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Jones Childress; son, Charles Clinton; daughter, Nancy Childress Carr; son-in-law, Michael Paul Carr; and grandchildren, Victoria Rose Carr and Benjamin Childress Carr. He is also survived by nieces, Phyllis Thomas, Barbara McMains, and Kendra Heald; and nephews, Stanley Ferguson and David Mahrer. Services will be Saturday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Parkway. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
