It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Robert Cravotta announces his passing on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 6:05 am.Chuck will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Charlotte, and his family…Son, Chuck Cravotta Jr. Grandchildren, Larisa, Natalie, Chris, and Carly Mae. Great grandchildren, Ava and Levi. Sisters, Charlene (Mike) Harbor, Lisa (Mike) King, Jimmy (Liz) Cravotta, Deceased Brenda Hallmen. Step Daughters, Gina (Craig) Boyd and Dominique Martucci (Jeff Moudry) Grandchildren, Anthony and Sam Martucci, C.J. (Sara) Boyd and Anna Boyd. Great grandchild Luke Porter Boyd. And his loving Dachshund, Snicker always together.His grandmother, Mary Elizabeth, the Fitzgeralds were from Ireland, and his grandfather, the DePriests, were first generation Americans. The DePriests served in the Revolutionary War, Civil War and World War I. The Fitzgeralds also served in World War 1.Father, Charles Dorsey Cravotta, was an Olympic boxing contender in 1932. The Cravotta’s, Italian immigrants, came to this country around 1890. This background of serving our country and boxing both influenced Chuck’s life. His mother Frances DePriest Cravotta divorced his father in 1938. His Dad remarried Mae Cravotta and moved to Texas.Proud of his heritage and coming from the coal mining era and property owned by his grandfather Robert DePriest in Mason Town, PA.He attended grade school in Mason Town. He jokingly always said that his grade school teachers were all taught by his grandmother when she was a school teacher so he always received good grades.During World War II, the one and only policeman in Mason Town joined the Marine Corp. Upon returning wounded and seeing him in his uniform, Chuck was inspired to join the Marines. A lifelong dream he pursued at the age of 18 he joined and eventually served in the Korean War and became a Sergeant.After the service Chuck joined his father in Dallas, Texas and his business as a Manufacturers Representative; Allied Sales. Eventually he went out on his own and formed the business of American International Representatives located in the Dallas Trade Mart as well as the World Trade Center.Charlotte joined him in his business and they traveled together the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Their business life took them to out of state headquarters throughout the country and together were successful business partners.They were married at Trinity Episcopal Church in 1991 and there he served the Lord as an acolyte as well as Junior Warden on the vestry. They are members of Christ Church in Plano and residents of Heritage Ranch in Fairview, Texas.We are going to miss you Champ. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 5th 6:00 pm-8:00pm. A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at Christ Church Plano, 4550 Legacy Dr, Plano, Texas 75024 on Thursday, December 6th at 10:30am. Following the service a reception will be held at the church to honor Chuck.
