Dear Marilyn, Mike, Karen and family,
I'm so sorry to learn that Cully passed away. I have so many early memories of him. He was one of my dad's best friends. Growing up I remember as a little kid weekends at our house on Lake Texoma. And then, one of my formative experiences was as a salesman at the Varsity Shop. I started out in the 10th grade in the stock room -- I was surely the only kid at Greenhill with an after school job! I got promoted to the Pony Shop, and eventually to the Men's store. I actually worked off and on at the V-Shop over eight years. As I pilot, I remember one time he took me flying in the Yellow Bird, when suddenly he told me we were about out of gas. We landed on a dirt strip -- I actually think it was a golf course -- where he found some gas, and we returned to Addison without problem. He was a great guy -- not to mention my memories of his mother -- Mama C reigning over the store cash register, and her code words and phrases: "What time are you going to the dance?"; "Here comes Mr. Blass!"; "There's Miss Chunch(sp?)!"; etc. Thanks Cully!
