Charles Robert Duncan's Obituary
DUNCAN, Charles Robert ("Bobby") Bobby passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2020 doing what he loved most: fishing. Born in Dallas on July 29, 1956 to Walter and Joyce Duncan, Bobby was full of youthful energy and mischief- characteristics that he never seemed to lose. His stories were larger than life, and incredibly most were true (with a few extra details sprinkled on top.)
Growing up in Richardson, Bobby could be found wrenching on golf carts at the Canyon Creek Country Club or cruising around in his orange '69 Camaro Z28. He graduated from Plano High School in 1974 and later North Texas State where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Bobby worked as a tour guide for Richardson Travel Agency where he guided tours around the world, and later pursued a career in sales. He volunteered with the Dallas Off Road Bike Association where he helped maintain trails and coordinate events.
Bobby's unique personality can't be described in words, and his quirks were endless. He can best be summed up by his passions in life: frogs, dobermans, camping, slalom skiing, hunting, RC airplanes, mountain biking, boating, home stereos, herping, model rockets, drums, BBQing, snow skiing, archery, off roading in Jeeps, climbing mountains, kayaking, and did we mention fishing? Throughout life he enjoyed getting outside of the city any chance possible, whether it be reconnecting with family roots in the Panhandle, boating on Lake Texoma, or spending time in the country with friends.
Bobby brought fun and happiness to all who came in contact with him, and he never met a stranger. He wasn't afraid to offer a hand to anyone who needed help, no matter the ask. Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Walter, and his sister, Debbie. Left behind to celebrate him are the love of his life Jaclyn, mother Joyce, son Jeff and his wife Katie, niece Christina and her husband Brian, granddaughter Savannah, and too many great friends and relatives to even begin to list. He will also be sincerely missed by his Doberman-child Caesar.
A memorial service will be held at Heights Baptist Church in Richardson on Thursday, August 6, at 1pm. For those not comfortable with indoor gatherings, a later memorial will be held outdoors with date TBD. Graveside Service will be Monday, August 10, 2020 at 9:00 AM in the Garden Whispering Waters at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you go for a bike ride or catch a fish in Bobby's honor.
