Charles D. Everett's Obituary
EVERETT, CHARLES D. 79, passed away April 10, 2012 after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born in Henderson County, TX on December 1, 1932 to Thomas and Blanche Bowman Everett. He graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas, attended Henderson County Junior College in Athens and received degrees from The University of North Texas in Denton and South Texas School of Law in Houston. He served his country first in the Navel Air Reserve, then in the US Army and for 35 years for the US Government as an Estate and Gift Tax Attorney, retiring in 2003. He was active in the Forest Avenue Alumni Association. He had a wide array of interests ranging from music, photography, sports, politics, new technologies and competition in the food division at the Texas State Fair. His always present thoughtfulness, humor, dignity, wisdom and love will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Paula; children, Donna Valladarez and husband Jessie of Dallas, Jeffrey Everett of Santa Monica, CA, Suzanne Carista of Waxahachie, Deana Tollerton and husband Rich of Austin, Jonathan Everett of Austin; granddaughter, Jessica Valladarez; former wife, Joyce Knott Ellis; brother, Tommy Everett and wife Ruth of Forney; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Blanche Everett; stepfather, L.C. Pickle; and brother, Leon Everett. The family is most grateful to the staffs of Odyssey Hospice, CNC Home Care and especially to Debra Houston for their loving care and service to our Dad. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Sunday, April 15th at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00am, Monday, April 16th at Restland Memorial Chapel followed by a graveside service at 2:30pm at Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens, TX. Memorial donations may be given to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, lewybodydementia.org or the Forest Avenue High School Alumni Association.
