Charles P. Grant's Obituary
Grant, Charles died January 7, 2013, in Fort Worth. Charles was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 13, 1913, and was a life-long resident of that city. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1930 and went to work for Magnolia Petroleum Company (later Mobil Oil) soon after. Charles remained with Mobil for 40 years until his retirement in 1971. He served in the Pacific theater during WWII as the billeting sergeant for Headquarters of the Far East Air Force under General Kenney. He was a devoted churchman and choir member, first at Oak Lawn Methodist Church and later at University Park United Methodist Church. He served as scoutmaster of BSA Troop 72 in Dallas for many years and was a member of the Highland Park Masonic Lodge. Charles was preceded in death by his son Charles P. Grant, Jr., his wife of 70 years, Adeline Brogren Grant, and his two brothers, Hugh R. Grant, and James Inge Grant. He is survived by his son C. David Grant and his wife, Deborah; three granddaughters, Allison Howard and husband, Rob, Amanda Powell and husband, James, and Carolyn Grant; and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Powell. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to University Park United Methodist Church, 4024 Caruth Blvd., Dallas, TX 75225. Funeral will be at 12:30 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Wildwood Chapel at Restland in Dallas. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Friday, January 11, at Restland, 13005 Greenville Ave.
