Charles Pasquale Guerriero III's Obituary
GUERRIERO, DR. CHARLES Longtime Dallas physician Dr. Charles P. Guerriero, III, passed away May 22, 2008 at age 79 at his Dallas home after a brief illness. Born August 9, 1928 in Monroe Louisiana, Dr. Guerriero attended Monroe schools, graduated from Louisiana State University in 1947, and from LSU Medical School in New Orleans in 1951. He performed his medical internship at Charity Hospital of Louisiana in New Orleans from 1951 until joining the United States Navy, July 31, 1952, at Pensacola, Florida for service during and following the Korean War. Dr. Guerriero served with the rank of Lieutenant as Senior Medical Officer aboard the U. S. S. Salem (CA 139 ‘ a Heavy Cruiser and Sixth Fleet Flagship). After two years service, he returned to New Orleans’ Charity Hospital for his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and was Chief Resident at Tulane in 1956 and 1957. Dr. Guerriero moved to Midland, TX in 1957 to begin his practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology and after eight years moved his family and practice to Dallas. In 1967, he was named Chief of Staff for Obstetrics and Gynecology for Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, a position he occupied for nine years. He was also instrumental in the design and completion of the Margot Perot Center on the campus of Presbyterian Hospital. He was also a Clinical Professor of OB & GYN at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He continued his practice of 51 years and seeing patients until just a few weeks ago. He was a member of the Dallas County Medical Society, the American College of Gynecology, a Life Member of the Central Association of Gynecology, and a Life Member of the Texas Association of Gynecology. Preceded in death by his father, Charles P. Guerriero, Jr., he is survived by his wife Deborah Guerriero; daughters Paula O’Brien and husband Rick O’Brien of Little Rock, Tina Peyton and husband Hon. John Peyton of Dallas, Shelley Lipscomb and husband Steve Lipscomb of Dallas, son Charles P. Guerriero, IV, and wife Lisa Guerriero of Dallas, stepdaughter Heather Pollock; granddaughters, Ashley O’ Brien, Whitney Peyton, Beverly Peyton, Holly Lipscomb, Jennifer Guerriero, Claire Guerriero, Lauren Inman and husband Alex Inman; grandsons, Richard O’Brien, Stephen Lipscomb, Charles P. ‘Charlie’ Guerriero V, Will Guerriero, Ben Guerriero, mother Juanita Guerriero of Monroe, Louisiana, and sisters Mary Louise Crenshaw of Monroe, and Katherine Baugh of Groves, Texas. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Dr. Dee H. Norton, Don Daniel, Hardy Thompson, John Weekley, Senator Russ Potts, Adrien Warren, and Lloyd Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dallas County Medical Society and the staff and administrators of Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas.
