Charles Dennis Hayes' Obituary
Charles Dennis Hayes, Sr. died May 2, 2017 in a Dallas Texas hospital. He was born in Voca, Texas on January 15, 1935. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue Chism Hayes; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Windle Cockrum; sons, Rodney and wife, Tammy Hayes, Charles Jr., and wife, Cindy Hayes, Rickey Hensley and wife, Terri; grandchildren, Windle Cockrum, Jr., Travis Hayes, Kyle Hayes, Cate Hayes, Elizabeth Cunningham and Abby Adams; great grandchildren, Taylor Cockrum, Caitlyn Hayes, Noah Cunningham, Sarah, Simon and Sophia Adams; sister, Laura Mangrum; nieces and nephews, Matt Glasscock, Lane Mangrum, Cheryl Mangrum, Sarah Barr, Emily Barker, Ryan Chism, Matt Graves and Amy Knight. For 65 years Charlie was a successful salesman for Conley Lott Nichols Machinery and TKO Equipment Company selling large construction equipment. He was committed to his work. Charlie was a strong Christian and deacon in Wilshire Baptist Church which he treasured. He was also an active, longtime member of Lake Highlands Exchange Club. Charlie loved the Dallas area and was a master navigator. He loved being with people and enjoyed the lakehouse for many years at Cedar Creek Lake. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandad, brother and uncle to his family. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Presbyterian Hospital. The service for Charles Hayes will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Wilshire Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P. O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 or HandsOn Texarkana, P. O. Box 3474, Texarkana, TX 75504; or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
