Charles William Holland's Obituary
HOLLAND, CHARLES WILLIAM of Terrell, TX passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013. Charles was born to Edna Mayfield Holland and Oscar D. Holland August 26, 1941 in Gilmer, TX. He graduated from Gladewater High School in 1960 and Kilgore College in 1962. Charles proudly served his country in both the Army and Air National Guard and was a life-long patriot. Charles worked in the Defense Industry for several years and then went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Longview, TX in 1971. After a SWBT transfer to Dallas in 1974, Charles met and married Nancy Womack Holland, his loving wife of the last 38 years. Charles retired from SWBT in 1996 after a long and successful career. Charles was an avid hunter in his younger days, enjoying many trips to the deer lease with buddies Kyle and Gene and his son Michael. He was also the biggest fan of daughters’ Michelle and Melissa, willingly sitting through hours of dance recitals and secretly loving every minute of it! His latest pride and joy was the arrival of grandchildren and he never tired of doling out cookies and PawPaw’s juice! Charles is survived by wife, Nancy Womack Holland; son, Michael C Holland and wife, Heather of Madison Alabama; daughters, Michelle Holland Recker and husband, Tom of McKinney, TX and Melissa Holland Jones and husband, Travis of Austin, TX. His grandchildren include, Lee and Jacqueline Recker, Jackson Jones, McKayla and Murray Holland. Charles is also survived by several brothers and sisters including, Don Holland and wife Janette of Gladewater, TX, Sam Holland and wife Connie of Richardson, TX, and Jerry Holland and wife Cathy of White Oak, TX, Iris Holland Ranney and husband, Clayton of Calais, ME, and Doris Holland Taylor and husband, Tracy of Longview, TX. He has numerous loving nieces and nephews and cousins of whom he was very proud. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Baylor Hospital (Dallas) who cared for Charles with such amazing skill and compassion these last two weeks! Pallbearers include Michael C. Holland, Kyle Stephenson, Steven Denfeld, Michael Kirmse, Richard York, and Lee Recker. Visitation will be open on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
