Charles Leroy (Chuck) Canfield's Obituary
Charles Leroy (Chuck) left this life to join many family members and friends who have preceded him in death. Chuck was born on November 1, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and passed away on February 20, 2016. He is survived by his “bride” of 35 years Donna Ann Canfield, daughter Melissa DeAnn Green, sons James William Green and Scott Canfield, Sisters Kathleen Ann Canfield and Barbara Louise Johnson and 6 outstanding grandchildren (Hope, Hunter, Heather, Holly, Jimmy, and Megan). Chuck was a successful businessman that went into semi-retirement in June 2014. However, his real passion, beside his family, was giving back to the community. It started while still in high school when he was a YMCA HI-Y leader, school leader, Junior Achievement Leader of the Year, and camp counselor resulting in being recognized as “Teen of the Week” by the Minneapolis Star Telegram in 1958. After college Chuck continued his community and professional involvement as President of the Dallas American Society of Training & Development, Chairman of the Board for Turtle Creek Manor, serving on the Northwood University Board of Governors, Chairing the Downtown Rotary Townhouse Committee, president of the Whispering Hills Neighborhood Association, founding the District 10 North Coalition, acting as a big brother for Big Brothers and Sisters in both Dallas and Minneapolis, a member of the Education and Workforce Advisory Board of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and membership in numerous other boards and professional organizations. While running his successful consultant firm, Chuck was consistently recognized for his excellence in sales and marketing. Chuck will always be known for his very engaging smile, willingness to help others, and dedication to achieving Personal Mastery. He will also be remembered as being a loving, caring and giving husband, father, grandfather and friend. A memorial service will be held At Restland Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Northwood University.
