Charles B. Mallett's Obituary
C. B. Mallett, Jr. was born on December 26, 1923, in Abilene, Texas and passed away on December 20, 2017, in Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Baker Mallett and Rose Gissell Mallett and four of his six sisters: Mary, Rose, Dorothy, and Sue.He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Carlene Gant Mallett, daughter Barb Holtzclaw (Gary), and sons Chuck (Kathy), Roger (Jan), and Carl (Pat). He was a grandfather to Brian, Bonnie, John, Becca, Alana, Caleb, Eli, Travis, Zane, Amoriss, Luke, Elijah, and Amos. He is also survived by his sisters Annie and Carolyn.C.B. served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 through 1944 as a flight instructor. He married Carlene Gant in 1945. He earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas in 1949. He and Carlene raised their family in east Dallas where C.B. was employed by Dallas Power and Light. Over the years, C.B. and Carlene worshiped first at Casa Linda Presbyterian Church and later at Reinhardt Bible Church.C.B. retired from DP&L in 1986. In retirement, he pursued his hobbies of carpentry, travel, fishing, and prison ministry with precision and planning. At every family reunion, his grandchildren loved their time in Pawpaw’s bass boat. C.B. completed many physical education and technology courses at Richland Community College. He used his computer skills to meticulously, digitally format his immense collection of family slides. He will be fondly remembered, often quoted, and never forgotten.A memorial service for C.B. will be on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11a.m. at Elan Southpark Meadows in Austin, Texas.
