Mr. Charles Oliver Mixon's Obituary
Mixon, Charles Oliver A father, a husband, and a gifted sponsor, passed away on Tuesday, November 16th, and will be remembered by his loving wife, his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and everyone that knew him well. Born on September 16th, 1926, to Charles Fenner Mixon and Addie Cocran Samuels, he was the eldest of two boys, growing up in Houston, Texas and attending college at the University of Texas in Austin. At the age of 23 he married Frances Irene Farquharson on May 21st, 1949. A little over one year later they began their family with Charles Oliver Mixon Jr, followed by Sherry Ann and then Dixie Lynna. His saying was, “Marriage, Motherhood, and Macgobar” and, following that, he worked in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas for over three decades as a drilling fluids engineer. After the death of his first wife, his marriage to his second wife, Charmaine Bentley, in 1980, blossomed into a third daughter, Charlotte Mixon. Her arrival signified many things, one of which was his retirement from the oil field in 1985, followed by two successful career changes; first as a stay at home dad, then as a security guard for Experian. He is survived by his brother, Marvin Mixon, his second wife of 30 years, two of his daughters, his son, and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all will remember him fondly and with love and adoration, each and every day of our lives. The viewing will be held at Restland Funeral Home from 6-8 pm on Thursday, November the 18th, and the funeral will take place on Friday, November the 19th at 2pm at St. Matthews Episcopal Cathedral.
