Charles Lawrence Murphy's Obituary
MURPHY, CHARLES LAWRENCE of Plano, TX, born July 21, 1920 in Ada, OK and passed away peacefully on July 28, 2010. Survived by wife of 68 years, Ophelia; son Tom Murphy; daughter Judy Toal; grandchildren, Kim Selzer (Richard), Brett Murphy (Brittainy), and Justin Toal; great-grandchildren Abby Selzer, Mason, and Maddox Murphy; brother Paul Murphy (Jo); sisters Juanita Beller (Jack), Delores Layne (Roger), and Bonnie Braley (Jim); and many nieces and nephews. As a life-long learner, Charlie attended East Central State College, Stanford University, and SMU. He retired as regional Vice President of REA Express Company after 30 years of service. Charlie then founded a third generation Custom Homebuilding business where he served the industry in the Plano Home Builders Association. After his second retirement, Charlie and Ophelia traveled with the Good Sam Club where they served as Assistant State Director and made life-long friends. The family is grateful for the care given Charlie by Professional Caretakers and Odyssey Hospice of Dallas. Services will be Monday, August 2, 2010, at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. Visitation will be at 2:30 pm and Services at 3:30 pm. officiated by Rev. Debbie Lyons. Memorial contributions may be made to Seven Loaves Food Pantry, 5801 W. Plano, Pkwy., Plano, TX 75093.
