Dr. Charles Michael Rodgers DDS's Obituary
Charles Michael Rodgers, 78, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at his home in Plano, TX, on Saturday, July 30th, 2022.
He was the son of Ivan and Dixie Zickefoose, born in Albuquerque, NM and raised in Amarillo, TX. He graduated from Tascosa High School and Amarillo Junior College, then went on to get his DDS from the University of Texas- Houston. Afterwards, he became a dentist in the Army, where he served as a Captain for over 2 years. He later moved to Richardson, TX to open up a private practice. He was affectionately known as Dr. Mike, the most caring and dedicated dentist, for over 50 years.
Dr. Mike had a love for the outdoors, starting when he was a fishing guide in Yellowstone. In his spare time you could find him fishing the rivers of Alaska, skiing the Rocky Mountains, sailing, or golfing with family and friends. He always felt most at home in the wide-open skies of Texas, enjoying daily sunsets with EJ, his wife of 42 years.
He was a compassionate and loving husband to the love of his life, EJ; an amazing father to Tammy Rodgers Hischke and husband Jeff, Michael Christopher Rodgers, Jennifer Ashley Holbrook and husband Brett; and supportive and caring “G-Daddy” to grandsons Ren Michael Hischke and Trenton Ray Hischke.
He lived life with passion. Loved with passion. Worked with passion. To be in the company of Dr. Mike was a gift that will be treasured by everyone.
The family will be holding a celebration of life on Saturday, August 13th from 2pm – 4pm at the private home of Tammy Hischke.
The family asks that donations be made to The Family Compass in Dr. Mike’s name in lieu of flowers.
