Charles Starck Russ' Obituary
RUSS, CHARLES STARCK beloved husband, father and grandfather died peacefully surrounded by family on May 15, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born on August 3, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Pennsylvania Military College. On February 14, 1952, he married Elaine Hart following his overseas services in the Army in World War II. He and Elaine began a lifelong career with Dupont, moving often between Houston and Wilmington, DE before settling in Dallas in 1975. After retiring in 1990, Charlie spent his time with his eight grandchildren, watching sporting events, recitals, school events and loved listening to Mark play the trumpet. In addition to tending his garden, he volunteered as a tour guide at the Dallas Arboretum for 20 years and took great pride in his award winning irises. In addition, he loved opera, golf and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hart Russ; brother, Bob Russ of Bartlett, IL; daughter, Patricia Ann and husband, Eddie Golla of Plano, TX; son, Michael Hart and wife, Melinda Russ of Dallas, TX. Granddaughters include, Kathryn Jane Russ of NY City, Kennedy Alexandra Russ and Cameron Isabella Russ of Dallas, TX; grandsons include, Jordan Hart Russ of Columbus, OH, Tripp Winfield Russ, Michael Reed Russ and Barrett Carter Russ of Dallas, TX and Mark Charles Golla of Plano, TX. The family is so grateful for the love and care given by the wonderful caregivers, Patti Kownslar and Joeanne Cannon. Services will be Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
