Charles Eugene Smith Jr.'s Obituary
SMITH, CHARLES E. Cherished husband, father, brother, granddaddy & great-granddaddy born on August 20, 1926 passed away peacefully in his home August 1, 2007 after a year long battle with lung cancer. Preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne Henry; parents, Charles “Jimmy” & Ora Smith; and sister, Helen Wells. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mattie Lou Smith; daughters, Patti McLean and husband Bruce, and Laurie Guido; son-in-law, Gary Henry; grandchildren Jennifer Carp and husband Michael, Scott Marr, Steven Man and wife Jill, Brandon & Meredith McLean, Lindsey Henry, Angeline Guido; great-grandchildren, Allison, Cameron, Mattie, Ethan and Macy; sister, Dorothy Martin and husband Dillard; and brothers, Wesley Smith, Donald Smith and wife Susie; sister-in-law, Norma Smith & many nieces and nephews. An avid golfer and past president of Dallas Athletic Country Club, he was a life-long member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church and the past two years has been a member of the Murrell ABF Class at LakePointe Church. His Christian faith enabled him to be an extraordinary example of strength, wisdom, character, integrity, love and honor to his family and many who knew him. He was a member of the United States Naval Air Force. Private burial service will be held at the Veteran’s DFW National Cemetery. Memorial service Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family earnestly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
