Charles Wayne Smith's Obituary
Smith, Charles Wayne, 70, died July, 26, 2010 at his home in Trophy Club, Texas, with family at his side. Funeral services will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas, on Friday, July 30, 2010, at 10:00am with interment to follow. Pastor Barry Clingan of The Church at Trophy Lakes will be officiating. Visitation is scheduled at Restland Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Mr. Smith was born December 13, 1939 in Cookville, Texas and was one of eight children born to Clyde Ancel Smith and Ethel Maxine Mills. Charles was a man of strong character and a kind heart. He had a passion for treasure hunting with his metal detector, fishing, cultivating orchids and spending time with his family. He proudly served his country as a decorated member of the United States Navy as Machinist Mate, 3rd Class on the USS James E. Kyes, deployed to the Far East in operations with the 7th Fleet. His civilian career included employment with Hobart Manufacturing Co., McLean Trucking Company and the Veteran’s Administration of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, J.C. Smith and sister, Wanda Powell. He is survived by wife, Becky Smith, son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Leslie Smith, brothers, Jimmie, Billy and Jerry Smith, sisters, Geraldine Mills and Betty Vallance, brothers-in-law, Jimmy Mills and Charles Crosskno, sister-in-law, Judy Smith, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
