Charles W. Spencer's Obituary
Charles W. Spencer, 81, of Dallas, Texas died January 27, 2016 after an acute illness. Charles Spencer was the 13th and youngest child of the late George and Susie Spencer of Morton, Texas. He is survived by his wife Carol and four daughters, Becky Bergthold and husband David, Liz Spencer, Rachel Rosiere and husband Jack, and Andrea Wall and husband Adam. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Crystal Dickerson and husband Dale, John Spencer and wife Jennifer, Keri O’Malley and husband Wedge, Matthew Jones, James Jones, Rebecca Jones, Keith Brooks, Talia Spencer and Greyson Rosiere. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Charles Dickerson, Xander Dickerson, Freya Spencer, Sydney O’Malley, Nikolai Spencer, Lilith Spencer and Auron Spencer, all living in the North Texas area. Charles traveled after high school, working as a park ranger and visiting all his many far flung siblings before joining the Army and serving 3 years in the 11th Airborne Division. He met his bride Carol Koenning at University of Texas at Austin where he earned his law degree. He practiced for many years in the Dallas law firm of Geary, Stahl and Spencer before opening his own commercial real estate practice. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, State Bar College, American College of Real Estate Lawyers, Certified in Commercial Real Estate, and helped pen the Texas Commercial Real Estate certification exam. He has won many awards including the Lifetime Achievement award for practicing 50 years. Charles was devoted to God and served as deacon in Spring Valley Baptist Church (later Park Central Baptist Church) for many decades. His free time was devoted to bible study and UT football. He spent many happy hours at his football luncheons and bible study breakfasts. Charlie will be fondly remembered by countless people for his overwhelming generosity, his strength of character and work ethic, his humor and gregarious nature. A visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, February 1, 2016. Services will be held at Park Central Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 followed by interment at 2:30 PM at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
