Charles Rowland Wanner Jr.'s Obituary
WANNER, JR., CHARLES ROWLAND Age 85, of Dallas, died May 22, 2008. Mr. Wanner, the son of Charles R. and Nelle Wanner was born April 4, 1923, in Dallas, Texas. He attended Dallas schools, graduating from W.H. Adamson where he was a cheerleader and an officer in the ROTC. He went to Texas A&M where he was a member of the Cadet Corps. He joined the Army in December 1943, serving as a Unit Commander with the 11th Airborne Artillery Division. He saw action in the southern Phillipines, Luzon, New Guinea and the Occupation Forces in Japan. After the war, he returned to Dallas, graduating from SMU with a degree in Civil Engineering. A lifetime certified Civil Engineer, he worked for Austin Brothers Steel, Co.,BIF Industries and was a partner with L&W Utilities Equipment, Co. Inc. Charles was a long time member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He loved his church, his family and his many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Wanner; his mother, Nelle Wanner; his wife of 51 years, Patsy Ruth Wanner. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Danhof Speck; two sons, Charles R. Wanner, III and Stanley Paul Wanner; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Entombment will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Restland Abbey Chapel, Restland Memorial Park. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 901 North Zang Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75208.
