Charles "Chuck" William Magill's Obituary
Charles “Chuck” William Magill passed from this life on October 31, 2015 at the age of 95. He died in Mesquite, Texas where he had lived with his wife of 73 years, Wanda Fae Magill, until her passing on September 24, 2015. Chuck was born on August 13, 1920 in Garber, Oklahoma to parents Harry Stuart and Lola May Magill. He attended Oklahoma A&M, now known as Oklahoma State University, before marrying his wife Wanda on April 25, 1942. In December of 1942 Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in North Africa as a machinist during World War II. Chuck raised his family in Dallas, Texas where he worked as a machinist and plant manager for Guiberson, which later became Dresser Industries, until his retirement. There the couple raised their 4 children: Harold, Dennis, Gayla, and Rhonda. After retirement, Chuck and Wanda moved to Rowlett, Texas where they continued to be closely involved in the lives of their children and grandchildren. Chuck and Wanda were also active members of Meneely Memorial Presbyterian Church, later Eastminster Presbyterian Church, since 1954. Chuck gave the gift of his presence and hard work to his church community, family, and neighbors. He helped his family build and remodel countless homes, and when there were not any projects to be done, he was known to show up on Saturday mornings with donut holes to share. He spent the rest of his time working in his backyard machine shop, where he made specialty hardware for an architectural firm until he was well into his 80s. He is survived by his children Harold Magill, Dennis Magill, Gayla Magill and Rhonda Eggert; sisters Merline Maund and Jo Sattlemeier; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Memorial service held on Saturday, 11/7/2015 @ 1:00 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 6550 Samuell Blvd. Dallas, Texas 75228. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
