Chas R. was an early influence in my portfolio of homes I designed,he called me in his office one day in ’82, said, ‘you may be better suited to work w a particular couple and he let me work with his other fine architects on a couple of homes,saw him last at a Mexican restaurant on maple,few years back,thank you Womack family for his own personality..,rob.

I just read Charle’s obituary in today’s DMN, and was saddened to hear of his passing. We hadn’t talked in a long while and I wasn’t aware that he had been ill. As a client when I was with Cityplace Company, I so enjoyed getting to know Charles and having the privilege to work with him on a number of projects. He was such a pleasure to work with and we became personal friends while working together. I regret that we had lost touch over the last several years as Charles was always a joy to be around, a great conversationalist as he knew so much about so many things, and of course a talented architect. He will be missed.
Paula, you know what a great guy Charles was and that he will be missed by everyone in our family. It doesn’t really seem real that he’s gone so soon. In a way, it’s almost like Deja vu all over again, like it was losing my dad so early in his life when we thought he had so much longer to live and so much more to do. I still miss him, too.It’s been very strange to think that we now have to prepare ourselves for the most difficult stages of our own lives, that we’re all very mortal and what that might mean. Charles showed such tremendous courage as he dealt with these tough things. He will be an example of how each of us has to be strong if we are faced with problems like he did.And you will be an example of how our loved ones can be strong when tough times come. Continue to be the strong lady that we know you are, and know that if you need any help in the days ahead, that we are here to help in any way we can. We love you, and we love all Charles’s family in this very sad time. We wish you solace and peace.

I love this “obituary”. I know the last 2 years have been so difficult for you. I personally got to know Charles better when he had more time to share his views on life and politics, because he had more time to contemplate the world . I am so thankful for our correspondences. Charles was a beautiful , multifaceted , talented person always, in ALL ways.
I am so sorry for your sadness and emotional exhaustion. This has been a very difficult time for you. This is such a sad loss for so many, I’m sending love especially for you. I hope for you peace. There are no words of comfort I could hope to give you, accept that I hope your days get better and the vacuum becomes less difficult for you. Much love to you , the kids, the many close friends and family who will miss the jokes, the laughs, the music, the conversations. He left meaningful contributions and substance that will transcend the time he spent in person. Charles will always be in our hearts and will always make us smile when he pops in our thoughts. For me he will be a presence of sweetness and goodness.
